Happy Independence Day! ππΊπ²π
Currently, we’re getting a fireworks show from nature, with something like 55 mph wind gusts, and rain pounding down hard enough that it’s actually leaking in through my roof onto my bed through the bolt holes that I used for the solar panels.
Oops. π
Gratefully, I’m not the me of 3 months ago, so I’m just enjoying the storm, and I’m not really worried at all about the ingress of water. π
Thx, Big Guy, for the gift of the changing heart and mind. π
This is a really awesome storm. π
At first, the way the storm came upon us, I was wondering if maybe it was going to be a tornado. The wind started picking up out of nowhere, and directly northwest was this huge cloud wow North and west were clear.
I kept watching the cloud line on the horizon with each flash of lightning to see if there was anything coming down to the ground, but nothing.
As I squinted to look through the wind into the distance, dust and debris flying at me pretty quickly, I saw something big and white flying quickly through the air heading in my exact direction, though a bit over my head. I’m not sure what it was, but it flew over me and right on by.
I love violent storms. π
Hopefully they don’t cause anyone harm tonight.
Anyway, it’s 9:45, and this little boy is tired. It’s been a long day of work outside working on septic stuff.
I don’t remember when I got up, but I did some morning study stuff, and then I ate some breakfast, and then I went out and helped Hans with the septic stuff. That was pretty much what I did all day long, though I did do some mowing at one point.
We got the third and deepest trench filled with gravel, the drain pipe laid down, the drain sock put on it, and the fabric stuff put over everything; and we put just enough dirt on top of the fabric dealie so that it wouldn’t blow away in the wind.
That’s looking like a pretty good decision at the moment. π
Love the thunder. π₯°
And with that last crack of thunder, looks like the storm has mostly passed us.
We finally knocked off somewhere around 6:15ish, maybe? And we headed over to Cascade Falls to take a nice refreshing dip. It was super crowded, families, groups of teenagers or early 20 somethings–lots and lots of people. Hans and I chatted with the lady from Minnesota who was there with her husband and a few kids playing in the water.
Ate a little bit and chatted a little bit back home, and then I did everyone good night to head out to my van in the hopes of getting my little butt to actually get to sleep by 9:00, but it’s almost 10:00, so… that didn’t happen. π
But I can still get to bed in time for it to be progress forward!
Gratitude:
- I’m grateful that though my little messed up toe is still messed up, I don’t really deal with any pain unless I physically press down on it in certain places.
- I’m grateful you were able to make some good progress on the septic stuff today.
- I’m grateful to be able to meet and interact with nice people. I think most people really are just good, nice people.
- I’m grateful for this country. I’ve traveled a lot of places around the world, and there are some really great places, but we really are blessed here in the United States.
- I’m grateful for the cooler weather. π
- I’m grateful to be able to have the ability and opportunity in time to do the things that I’m doing right now.
- I’m grateful for freedom, and today, specifically freedom From The bondage of addiction… from porn, from sports news, from TV and movies, from all those things that took me away from what I want most. Glory to God. π
Success:
- I had the self-discipline to sign off for the night from the trailer and head to Rover only 5 minutes after my alarm went off to tell me to do that. So that’s an improvement of probably at least an hour over my previous best. π
Improvement:
- I’m still letting myself get overwhelmed by the scale and scope of what all has to be done here, so it’s good practice at just letting go and letting a worthy effort be good enough each day, trusting that God will make whatever needs to happen happen, as long as we’re sincerely giving our worthy efforts to do what He would have us do.
Thought of the Day:
So often in life, a deserved blessing is quickly followed by a needed stretching. Spiritual exhilaration may be quickly followed by a vexation or temptation. Were it otherwise, extended spiritual reveries or immunities from adversity might induce in us a regrettable forgetfulness of others in deep need. The sharp, side by side contrast of the sweet and the bitter is essential until the very end of this brief, mortal experience. Meanwhile, even routine, daily life provides sufficient sandpaper to smooth our crustiness and polish our rough edges, if we are meek.

Thanks, mama, for sending the quote. π₯°
Hand of God In My Life Today:
I think my reaction to my leaking van roof is a pretty good indication of what God has done for me today. π₯°
Good night, my lovelies. π₯°
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
