(written on the 13th)
Hiya, folks. 🙂
While it was the same hotel, and while the room was bigger than the other one, and the price was cheaper because it was in the last desirable location, it was pretty trashy. 😅
The door to the room wouldn’t close unless forced closed. The door to the bathroom wouldn’t close unless forced closed, and I never actually got it to close myself.
Breakfast was… pretty awful. 😅
Gave John a ride to the airport, having a conversation along the way about my hope for better things to come, and then we got to the airport, and I wished him well and said goodbye.
Hopefully it won’t be another 5 and 1/2 years before I see him again.
Chatted with my brother Richard for a good while on the drive home about life stuff and gospel stuff.
Good chat.
Spent some time trying to answer questions online because it’s the last day of the reckoning, , and I don’t feel like I have very many questions answered for the week.
Allowed myself to get consumed in the Charlie Kirk news cycle.
And it’s September 11th today. I was on my mission 24 years ago today when the planes hit the towers and the field and the Pentagon.
I remember the country came together… for a while… before we split even further.
I’m hoping the solidarity against violence toward those of opposing views lasts longer than the brief unification we experienced in the wake of 9/11.
🙏
And yes, I know there have been many who have celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death, and I’m sad there are people with that much anger and malice in their hearts, but I think those people represent a significant minority.
I went out to Rover pretty early. Tired. It rained a little bit.
Gratitude to My Father:
- I’m grateful to have been able to spend time with John.
- I’m grateful to have been able to have a great conversation with Richard.
Reflections on Where I Can Improve:
- I catch myself not being as understanding as I want to be, even judging sometimes, I think. I don’t want to do that.
Thought of the Day:
As you accept the responsibility to seek after truth with an open mind and a humble heart, you will become more tolerant of others, more open to listen, more prepared to understand, more inclined to build up instead of tearing down.
~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Love to all. 😊
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
