2025-09-19 (Friday) — Continued Divestiture, and More Haven Hill Cleanup

(written on the 29th from notes taken previously)

Did some dailies. Started digging in to finally find that gas tank, as I had someone who wanted to get it today.

Gratefully, I did eventually find the gas tank simply by giving up on the weed eating and mowing and just making my way through the super tall weeds, regardless of the number of ticks and chiggers I might get. 😅

After getting the gas tank, I spent a little while trying to get as much water out of it as was reasonable. Then I put it down by the front gate, somebody from Facebook Marketplace wanting to come pick it up later in the day.

Two days, two long-time Marketplace items gone.

🎉

Stopped by Liz’s and gave her some more clothes for her boys, went through the mail that had come for me, which included the updated registration stickers.

Put an old floor jack that I had donated to the Hill in Rover and drove it down to the tractor where I jacked up the tractor and removed the wheel/tire.

I also got my CNG van started, and of course, cylinder one started misfiring right away. I’ve had the coil go bad twice on that cylinder, I think, so it’ll be under warranty, but… Pretty crappy that it keeps going out. 😅

Put the new stickers on my license plates for both my Van and truck. Gathered up a bunch of metal from my van and put it in my truck bed (leftover parts from Loaf that I had been holding on to as extra parts for ET, but now I have neither vehicle, and in 6 months, no one has been interested in buying the parts, even though it’s probably like $1,000 worth of parts for only 50 bucks.

Supply and demand. 🙃

Chatted with Miguel and got the wrecked Subaru title issue figured out, gratefully. That was a bit of a stress for me.

With one blown tire on my dump trailer, and the spare tires for both my dump trailer and flatbed trailer both being bad, I’ve been looking for used trailer tires on Facebook Marketplace to replace the bad ones that I have.

Trailer tires can be pretty expensive, and I didn’t really feel like spending a whole bunch of money on brand new tires for trailers that I’m just selling.

Anyway, there was somebody a little ways up into Missouri who supposedly had a bunch of really good trailer tires for a good price. Unfortunately, when I got there, the tires were in a lot worse shape than they were made out to be. I also noticed as I was driving north that they weren’t the brand they were claimed to be, instead being a much cheaper quality tire than what they were advertising them to be.

So that visit was a bust.

Headed over to Miguel’s shop and hung out with him for a bit, trying to get everything squared away for tomorrow. The guy buying the wrecked Subaru was going to come next week, but he was able to get the money earlier than he expected, so he’s going to be here tomorrow morning to pick up the Subaru, so I came over to make sure all the paperwork was ready, and that I had the key and was all set to meet him tomorrow to get the transaction completed.

Spent a good little while working on property clean up stuff back on Haven Hill, again working on cleaning up the area next to the upper pond where all the weeds had grown up quite thickly around the branches and Trunks we had dumped there way back in March, or whenever it was.

Gratefully, I had help from a couple of my nephews, loading wood up and taking it over to the pile that Jim cuts wood from to heat the shop during the winter, and then also cleaning up branches and everything along the yard and in the tall weeds and getting it all into the burn pile.

While I was working, Risa asked if I wanted some food, so after I finished the cleanup with the boys, I stopped by, and she handed me some food and little containers to go. 🥰

Brought the food over to Jim’s house and hung out with him while I ate.

Chatted with my sister Heather a little bit again. Did some shopping at the neighborhood market; and headed over to my mom’s house where I chatted with her just briefly, long enough to give her some flowers and wish her a good night.

Gratitude to My Father:

  • Grateful to have been able to make good progress on property clean up today, getting the area around the pond cleaned up enough that it can be mowed all the way around. I did know all the way around it yesterday, except for the big spot where there were still branches until weeds and fence panels. But that’s all cleaned up now, and it looks pretty good.
  • I’m grateful I was able to get rid of that gas tank.
  • I’m grateful that the registration stickers were at Liz’s house.
  • I’m grateful the van started relatively easily, despite having that dead misfire.
  • I’m grateful that it looks like I’m actually going to be able to get rid of that wrecked Subaru tomorrow. 🎉

We. Celebrate. Successes!!! 🥳:

  • I think I was more patient today.

Lift the world.

Bring it on.
