(written on the 30th)
Headed from my mom’s house where I stayed the night last night over to Miguel’s shop to meet the young man who was going to buy the wrecked Subaru.
I got there early, so I took the time to take pictures of the two motorcycles and the truck that I’m going to be trying to sell for Miguel.
I don’t remember if I mentioned it, but Miguel offered to pay me a commission for vehicles that I was able to find buyers for, so I’m going to be the one posting the ads and taking calls and whatnot. Gratefully, that gives me another potential source of revenue while I’m in New Zealand.
Anyway, so I took pictures and then when the young man arrived, I got him all squared away.
Wrecked Subaru gone. π₯³
That means both Subarus are now off of my long-distance to-do list. π₯³
Can’t wait until I get the rest of my stuff off my list. π
From there, I started heading back into pea ridge, but as I was getting into pea ridge, I got a message back from another person on Facebook Marketplace who had some trailer tires at a good price.
They were way out in Oklahoma by Tulsa, but I did the calculations, and it was still a great deal even with the lost time and gas, so I headed out there.
I arrived early, so I started pulling things out of Rover in order to rearrange things to make room for the tires, as well as just to better rearrange the contents of the van just for better organization since having sold the keyboard.
When the gentleman arrived, I found that one of the tires had a nail in it going all the way through, so he knocked $25 off the price, and I went ahead and bought all five tires from him.
I ended up staying in the parking lot a good little while longer moving things around and trying to organize Rover. In the end, there was a whole bunch of stuff just piled everywhere in order to make room for the tires, but I was going to be removing the tires from the van relatively quickly, so it wasn’t a big deal.
On my way back, I stopped off at the Walmart neighborhood market in Pea Ridge. When I pulled up, I pulled up near where some police officers were dealing with an abandoned vehicle that had been wrecked and then just left in the Walmart parking lot.
I gathered up some trash from inside my van and then put it in the trash can and headed in to go shopping. Nothing abnormal about that, but when I came out, as I was walking toward my van, two of the police officers came walking toward me.
They started asking me questions about who I was and then told me that the manager of the Walmart had called the police on me reporting that I had stayed the night overnight the last two nights in the parking lot there.
π
No, I hadn’t.
Rather annoyed and surprised at the same time, I pulled out my phone and showed them on my Google maps where I had been, as I let Google track me. π
They asked for my ID, saying it was for the report. I gave them my id, but I got this distinct feeling that the officers were just straight up lying to me in order to have some pretext for seeing who I was because I had South Dakota plates and the inside of my van was an absolute mess.
Frustrated and annoyed, I drove away, but I only got a few miles down the road before my significant frustration got me to turn around and drive back to the parking lot, where I pulled up next to the police officers, ask them for the name of the store manager that supposedly had called the police on me, and then went inside to prove my theory correct that the officers were just lying in order to see who I was.
I have a nephew who works there, so I went and talked to him first, and then he brought me over to the shift manager, and I talked to him, and both of them were like she’s the day manager.
As I was leaving, I talked to two other store employees who confirmed that the manager had not called the police on me.
I generally don’t have a poor view of police, but I’ll tell you what, Pea Ridge Police have left a sour taste in my mouth.
But what do you do? It’s not like I drive a vehicle that’s going to blend in. So if I go complain to the department, I risk retribution.
I was pretty mad by the end of all of that, and I let that anger turn into animosity. π
Headed to Haven Hill from there and crashed for the night.
Gratitude to My Father:
- I’m grateful that I was able to get the Subaru taken care of.
- I’m grateful that I was able to get trailer tires for my trailers.
- I’m grateful that I didn’t go too far in my frustration with the officers, though I was sorely tempted to give them a piece of my mind. π
Reflections on Where I Can Improve:
- Didn’t need to get as annoyed as I was.
- Apparently, being back in Arkansas has sort of reset my brain, it seems. The first time I walked into the neighborhood market, it was like I was right back to my shopping for junk food ways that was the norm before I left. π
Lots to work on.
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
