(written on October 7th from notes taken previously)
I got back on the road sometime around 9:30, probably getting about 4 1/2 hours of sleep, or so.
Back on the road, it wasn’t long before I got pulled over in some sleepy little Kansas town. Apparently, I was going five over.
I generally try and obey the speed limit, but I think I also tend to let my van coast when speed limits drop quickly instead of wasting fuel and brake pad material by braking right away. Probably stupid, but that’s what I often do 🙃. So that might have something to do with why I was above the speed limit.
I spent most of the drive multitasking, so that wasn’t good–working, trying to organize a Haven Hill work party from afar…
I had intended to stop off at Cascade Falls or Springs on the way back, but somehow I got turned around in one town, and then when I reset my GPS, it took me a different route back without me noticing, so I ended up going through Hot Springs proper instead of coming in from the southwest up highway 71.
Darn.
Oh well.
I stopped off to look at a little house that was for sale in Hot Springs, but it turned out to be something that’s basically ready to be bulldozed, in my opinion, so I let that go.
Got back to my sister’s place, hung out for a bit, wound down for the night, and crashed.
Gratitude to My Father:
- I’m grateful I didn’t get a ticket.
- I’m grateful the drive went quickly.
- I’m grateful that summer is almost over, so the fact that I haven’t ponied up to fix my AC is about to be a non-issue again for several months.
- I’m grateful I’m feeling better (mentally/emotionally, etc).
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
