(written on October 7th from notes taken previously)
My leaving when I did and pushing through to arrive when I did turned out to be perfect, as I was able to give Hans a ride to the airport this morning instead of Heather having to wake up hours early when she already gets only half as much sleep as she needs every night.
So I gave Hans a ride to the airport, then I stopped off at Menards to grab some stuff. Then it was on to AutoZone to grab some bulbs for the Jetta.
I ended up spending probably an hour, or so, possibly more, in the AutoZone parking lot trying to change out the messed up bulbs. 🙃
Volkswagen certainly didn’t make it easy to change with their wacky assembly.
Simplicity certainly wasn’t on the docket when they designed that tail light section.
Of course, European vehicles are generally much more convoluted, in my opinion, than American and Asian vehicles.
I generally tried to avoid working on European vehicles, in general, when I was a mechanic. BMWs weren’t too bad, but Volkswagens and Audis were just awful, in my opinion. 🙃
So I guess there’s not really much of a surprise when I find the same thing here. 😅
Eventually, I was able to get it all taken care of, one broken plastic tab later, though. But it’s all working. There were three different bulbs that were blown, and the information provided by the AutoZone database gave one wrong bulb, so I ended up exchanging that one for a different one. Gratefully, their return and exchange policies are wonderful, so even though the package was already opened, they were willing to take back the bulb set that was incorrect.
On the way back, I stopped off and looked at a plot of land just off the main drag in Hot Springs. It’s a third of an acre on the hill overlooking the town.
I haven’t learned much about it, but the lot was a lot smaller than I thought it was. I’m so used to being out in the country, so showing up to a lot that’s only a third of an acre… It just feels so tiny. 🙃
It’s got pretty good placement, within walking distance of a grocery store, though it’s down a hill, and then back up, but still, very close. And you have a decent view of the Southern half of the little hot springs community.
Probably not going to jump on anything. I’ll be out of the country for half a year very soon, and I don’t need to be complicating things a lot right now.
Spend a little while looking at real estate. Ate some food. Was really tired and vegged out a bit.
Chatted with Heather about house stuff and life stuff and then went to bed.
Gratitude to My Father:
- Grateful to be able to help Heather and Hans by giving Hans a ride to the airport today. He’ll be gone for a good little bit visiting family out of state.
- Grateful I was finally able to get the Jetta taken care of.
- Grateful the broken little plastic tab on the tail lights wasn’t a major issue. 😌
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
