(written on January 27th π¬ from notes taken previously)
I slept in the bit this morning, it being cooler because of the cloud cover. π
I went down to Kerosene Creek to check it out a little bit more thoroughly, but it was… not enticing. π
There was a lot of trash, including What looked like a huge piece of corrugated plastic that was crunched up into little pieces, tiny and large, all over the place on the dirt path down to the hot creek.
So… Instead of getting in the creek and enjoying another hot soak, I spent probably an hour filling up a trash bag with busted pieces of plastic and whatever other trash I could find in the area.
Hopefully, it’ll be more enticing for the next people who come along. π€
Finally setting off with a bag full of trash, I pointed my van roughly north to go check out some waterfalls, one of which, Okere Falls, is the largest commercially navigated waterfall in the world at 7 meters tall.
So I headed over there to watch the rafters and kayakers.

I walked to Tutea Falls and then headed over to Trout Pool Falls, enjoying the walks and the views.
I ran into the group of German boys that I met at Shine Falls a week or so ago and chatted with them for a bit.
Was able to dispose of all the trash I collected at a trash bin in the parking lot where I saw the German boys. π
After the waterfall walks, my next efforts turned into a series of “nopes.” π
I tried to go to the Te Auheke Track to Cascade Falls, a lovely glow worm place, as I had heard, but I couldn’t get my bearings well enough to figure out where to go and how far.
So that was a “nope,” but I’m ever so grateful for Micro John. π
Then I tried to stay the night at a freedom camping place in Rotorua, but nope.
Seems like there were more “nopes” than that…
π€
Oh well.
Oh! Kerosene Creek was a “nope.” That’s right.
Anyway, gratefully, I found a place on the way back toward Tauranga with plenty of space and nice facilities. π
Just veged out a bit and crashed.
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
