2026-04-05 (Sunday) — Sweaty Metal

(written on the 7th from notes taken previously)

I woke up a lot earlier than I might have expected after such a short night, I think somewhere around 9:00 or 9:30. 😶

I spent a little bit of time veging out in front of my phone before enjoying a video call with my friend Cory.

We chatted for a good long while–as I drove, as I stopped back off at the recycling transfer station to recycle a few more things, as I pulled into the parking lot of the freedom camping place I’d stayed at night before last, and as I began again to work on the mess I made of the roof.

I wanted to paint the bare metal parts of the roof as soon as possible, but I needed the relative humidity to be below 70%. It was supposed to be below 70% while I was at the park, but then it started to rain. 😆

So I quickly taped the roof off again and drove back into Napier, the weather looking better over there, despite not being all that far away.

At first, I had planned to go to the Mitre 10 parking lot to continue my efforts, as the store was closed on Sundays, and I’d have the parking lot to myself, but when I got there, I found the parking lot gated closed. Undeterred, I drove down the road a little bit and found an open empty parking lot of a little strip mall where most of the buildings were listed for rent, not currently occupied.

I spent the next three plus hours there, working on my roof, listening to General Conference.

It was nice to feel the Spirit at times while listening to Conference.

I miss feeling the Spirit. 😞

Had a great conversation with my brother, and I was able to make some decent progress on the van–two gaping holes now in process of repair.

I was grateful to have had the rain pass by Napier and to have low enough humidity so as to do a tad bit of painting.

And that leads to this: If you should have occasion to need spray paint in the future, do not, I repeat do not buy a can with this spray nozzle configuration.

It’s an abomination. 😅

Texted back and forth with my friend Robyn for a good little while and video called my brother Richard, chatting for probably well over an hour.

As the day drew to a close, I headed back to Puketapu Park for the night, working on my journaling efforts, veging out a bit, and crashing for the night.

Lift the world.

Bring it on.
