2020-05-10 — I May or May Not Have

Well peeps,

Fog brain.

That’s what I have right now. Not that it’s anything new, you see. It’s actually a seemingly nearly perpetual reality for me nowadays. It just is. The inability to think abstract thoughts or pull memories out of wherever they’re lodged within the gray matter beneath this thick skull of mine.

Anyway, I may or may not have been wrestling with a fallen log in the forest while simultaneously disrupting a billion poison ivy vines (this has nothing to do with memory… just… I don’t know if it was poison ivy or not. There was definitely poison ivy on the tree right next to me, and there were little three-leafed, non-thorny vines all over the underbrush I was thrashing in while attempting to move a rather large fallen log out of my way.

I guess I’ll find out in the next couple of days. 😬

I may or may not have been waiting and waiting for people to apply to work for me, only to find that Indeed.com had paused my ad a long time ago and I didn’t realize/remember, and since re-doing the ad yesterday, I may or may not have had three people apply already with one interview scheduled for tomorrow.

Oops. 🙃

…I may or may not have fallen asleep just now.

I tried to get some sleep last night, but I didn’t turn my phone to silent, and I had one guy call literally 6 times between 7:04 and 7:33.

Wanting an oil change. 😶

Really?!?! A 7 a.m. oil change?

Ugh.

So… I’m running on short sleep… many days in a row, and my body is on the edge again, so I need to eat and drink before I crash, and before the craziness of a rainy Monday descends upon me (we have I think eight or nine cars on the schedule for tomorrow so far, and very likely a cajillion more who will call because, well, Monday is usually a super super busy day.

Anyway, as far as the day went… I got up, I caught up on news a bit, I think. I gave the Durango a blood transfusion. Didn’t realize it was waaaaaaaay over due. Went and looked at a house for sale in Seligman with my nephew (should be bulldozed), tempted myself with more cars to buy (but refrained. …at least for today), spent some time looking for a work van (I’m looking for a Ford E350, I think… non panel van. I like my windows, thx. Much safer while driving.), and played in the woods for a few hours or so.

Oh yeah, I also went into town because last night before bed I saw a suspicious purchase on my AutoZone account. They have my card on file, so any dishonest employee can just bill parts to my account and walk away with them, so I headed to the store today to clear that up. Fortunately, it was just a battery warranty return that one of my customers had come in to do when I wasn’t there.

What else? Managed to get my bare shelves and cupboards filled. I put my wrecked work van up for sale. I spent a couple hours arranging everything for tomorrow.

Question… so you buy a gallon of milk (yes, I know skim milk isn’t really milk, it’s more like milk water, but..)… aaaaaanyway, so you buy a gallon of milk water, only to come home and find a tiny pin hole in it with milk running down the side.

To drink or not to drink?

Well, folks, I need to go to bed. Well… I need to eat and drink more first to try to stave off a crash.

It’s been a good day.

#1. I’m grateful that I was able rest at least somewhat today.

#2. I’m grateful that I figured out the issue with Indeed and that I’m actually getting some inquiries. I should have known something wasn’t right. In this economy? No one applying for jobs? The thought of finding another person to hire is… wonderful. Cross your fingers he’s an honest, competent mechanic.

#3. I’m grateful to have not gotten a single tick on me while tromping through the woods. Not sure where all the ticks are, but I’ll take it!

#4. I’m grateful to be able be making progress in lots of different areas. The latest is trying to eat a bit more healthily. I bought some rabbit food, and I’ll try to incorporate it into my diet and hopefully better take care of myself.

#5. I’m grateful for my mother (most important one listed last. Hopefully that makes it most remembered). She’s been there for me through thick and thin during these last five years of my life, the hardest of my 38+. Thank you, mom. Thank you.

Lift the World (like mothers do).

Oh… for those who might be wondering: 35, 43, 34, 8, 2.

Onward.

  1. Thats what I got, an E350 passenger van. Not the greatest gas mileage, but so much SPACE.
