2020-11-13 — How Time Flies

It’s been a year since I went to China–a freaking year!

๐Ÿ˜ถ

Just dawned on me.

What the heck?!?! How has it been a year already?!?! That’s nutty. NUTTY!!!

So I’ve been thinking about traveling. ๐Ÿ™ƒ Tickets to Kaua’i are cheap in January from Utah. I could go out and visit family and then hop on a plane and enjoy an island paradise for a week or so. $368 R/T from Salt Lake City.

With the Covid stuff, you can reschedule without a penalty, too. Mmmm… beaches. Haven’t been to the ocean in a long time (unless you count Puget Sound, which I don’t).

I’m thinking about it… Seriously.

A year!!!

By the way, happy Friday the 13th! ๐Ÿ˜ Not that there’s anything special about it, but it’s fun, nonetheless.

Good day, as always, on this side of the y’all line. I got to bed way too late last night, but I still got up on time (though it was harder today, and I was sorely tempted to just go right back to bed). So… victory there! It’s 9:17 right now, so I’m already behind yet again, but I’m gonna keep this short, so I can at least be in bed by 9:30.

I played a little Paul Bunyan in the woods this morning with my never-used tree-hacking ax. Not sure how many dead trees I took down at 5 ish a.m. in the dark, but it was more than one and fewer than… 8? Nothing like hacking trees down with a headlamp in the Arkansas woods in the madrugada.

๐Ÿ˜

Rest of my morning routine. Getting David going. Had a few mishaps today, but we rolled with it, didn’t give it much of a thought, moved right along, and had a decent workday today. David did four cars (only got paid for three because somehow we had a customer who didn’t expect to have to pay for us to come out. Not sure what goes through people’s heads sometimes.). I did three cars, so… yeah… turned out decent money wise, which is good because it’s been slow lately, and with that unexpected chunk of change that’s on it’s way out, it’s nice to have some more coming in.

Let’s see. Have an AutoZone friend of mine who’s almost died a few times in the last three months. She has some crazy ultra sever asthma attack (or whatever it is… doctors don’t know what’s triggering it, and it’s gonna kill her, literally) her rescue inhaler isn’t helping. She has only a single minute’s warning before her bronchial tubes close off so much that she literally can’t even get air into her lungs. She passed out right after telling her husband to call 911. They got to her and had to intubate and do chest compressions. Her oxygen was at 65.

Nobody knows what’s wrong.

Why does this seem to be the norm with me and the people I know? Why can’t doctors figure out what’s wrong with us these days? Money. That’s my bet. Big money dictates how many patients a doctor has to see an hour… and… good luck figuring out challenging issues in the 6 minutes they have allotted for you.

Anyway…

9:27. Gotta go to bed.

#1. I’m grateful for a good work day today.

#2. I’m grateful that I was able to get a bunch more vines pulled up today. it’s nice to be making at least a little dent on clearing the destructive flora out.

#3. I’m grateful skin grows back. Burned my mouth today, and I have that raw, blistered skin inside. Lovely feeling. I’m grateful skin is such a resilient organ. It’s absolutely incredible stuff!!

#4. I’m grateful to be increasing in my self discipline. It’s so nice to be regaining mastery over my body and mind–so nice. I still have quite a ways to go, but consistent bits of progress are so encouraging.

#5. Speaking of consistent bit of progress, I’m grateful that I have been able to see with those eyes–to be okay and to even have learned to love making little bits of progress and seeing the progression instead of always trying to accomplish everything at once, whether it’s a change of heart or a project around the house it’s just so good for the mental health to slow down and do a little here and a little there, as a life in balance allows.

Loves and hugs, all y’all. I hope you have wonderful dreams.

Lift the World.

  1. Hawaii! How wonderful! But the regulations for going to Hawaii are strict. A family from Utah all got COVID tested before they went (as required) but their tests weren’t from an approved testing center, so when they arrived in Hawaii, they were sent right back home. Be ultra sure you’re following protocol if you want to get into the paradise ๐Ÿ™‚
