2021-09-23 — Slow Motion

Today the adrenaline or whatever wore off, and I sort of hit the wall. I just… was in slow motion–just tired and burned out.

Accordingly, I managed to do a grand total of two cars today before calling it and heading home. Interestingly, though I only did two cars, it was still a long day, getting home around 6 something, I think.

I did sleep in a little, getting up about 8 ish, which was good because i don’t think I got to bed until… 3? After getting up, I sort of lazily dragged around the house, completely slammed with work but in slow motion, not really paying attention to how much there was to do. I had a gazillion people waiting, but I didn’t have much officially scheduled, so I… took advantage of that to slow down today.

Anyway, first car was a no start that they thought was an alternator issue, but it turned out to be a bad starter, so I replaced that. They were quite late because the car was at the hotel, but they forgot I needed the key, and they were in another city, so I had to wait for them. That one went relatively smoothly, and I cleaned and organized the work van a bit while I waited.

After doing that job, I picked up a part from Hyundai, headed to AutoZone in Bentonville, and hung out there pretty much the rest of the day, including having one of my customers meet me there (they had a grinding noise from the front right wheel). I inspected, corrected an issue, diagnosed another, and called it a day.

When I came home, I got right to work on my Nissan Versa which also was making hideous noises from the right front wheel. Gratefully, it turned out to just be a bent piece of brake shield, so I pulled it apart, unbent the shield, and that solved that.

Unfortunately, I think the Versa’s issues are much greater and much more plentiful than just that little bent brake thing. I think it has a rod knock, so that could be another nice little loss to swallow (along with the beater van I just sold that I last a handful of hundreds of dollars on), but I’m… not worried about it much. It is what it is, and it’s time to move on from that little car. Rent, sell, whatever. We’ll see.

Other than that, it’s late again. 12:13, and I’m gonna hit the hay because I have an absolutely massively busy day tomorrow, so… I need to get to sleep, so I can get up and pound pound pound. Almost Friday, Which means it’s almost Saturday. Which means it’s almost Sunday, and I get to rest. 🙃

To my dear Blogreader, thanks, for the comment and encouragement. In answer to your questions, yes, draining my knee a couple of times seems to have solved the issue–at least… my knee hasn’t swelled up again for… a month now? No, I haven’t found a worker yet. First one was stoned. Second one changed his mind. I currently have an AutoZone employee mulling over whether he’d be interested. Really good guy, but I would have to train him completely as he’s a novice, but that’s okay. We’ll see. My best employee ever was a novice that I trained.

What else… uh… the mini ex came back hurt even more, I think. It might be down for a little while. I’m gonna have to have it looked at. I think the first rental was doing a job that was so demanding it caused damage to my mini ex. I thought about it only really after I’d committed the rental. It really got put through the paces in that first rental. Don’t know if it got damaged then, but it’s certainly not doing so great right now with one of the tracks–actually both, I think. Something is bent on the one side, i think, and the other track has a leak in the grease tensioner assembly.

Oh well, that’s the nature of the beast. Gotta expect that, I suppose.

Well, folks. I’ve been lonely lately. Been harder lately with that.

Time for bed. Good night all.

Lift the World.
