2021-11-06 — Missing Stoic?

Unlike the other days this week, struggling to get out of bed, I woke up at 4:30… before my alarm. 😶

Not sure what that was about. I didn’t want to get up, so I tried to fall back asleep until the alarm went off, but I don’t think I was very successful. Either way, when the alarm did go off at 5, I popped up and was on my way to my morning 5x5s.

I was more effective doing those this morning, still not back to solid, but I used the timer and was more effective on task. I’ve been working on cleaning up one of my junk shelves (the shelf odds and ends get dumped on), and it’s pretty close to being done. That’s, a big deal in a really unimportant way. 🙃 One of those things that’s on the list and looks… bad… but never quite makes the list (that is, until the 5×5 goes active again–man this little daily progress strategy is freaking fabulous. If you haven’t already tried it, good grief, it’s sooooo productive. And just 5 minutes 5 times–total of 25 minutes. 5 minutes room, 5 minutes house, 5 minutes garage, 5 minutes yard, 5 minutes electronic communication.

Boom. Progress. Little, noticeable, positive progress–every day.

Worked on my np for a little bit. Right now I’m writing out my fears. Might not seem very np related, but my coming to myself is huge for the prep of the np.

What else… oh! It’s going really slowly, but I did make good progress on tax stuff today. I’m really grateful that i was able to find that site where I could pay for a tool to convert my past PDF account statements into .CSV files. That was sooooo helpful this morning. I’m getting there. Bit by bit. Very slow going. But I’m getting there.

Tough car day today… got away late. I’m gonna need to get up earlier, i think. I might get up at 4 and see how that does. I should be getting done with tax stuff about 8:30, not 9:30, which would mean I need to get up at 4, if I’m going to keep the same morning routine and get done by 8:30. So… I guess we’ll see. 😶

Anyway, first car was easy. Second car was horrendous–absolutely horrendous. Nissan products. Good freaking grief. Their engineers just love making things ridiculously complicated to repair. Today was a 2001 Infiniti QX4 (After a battery job and basic inspection on a 2009 Honda Fit). The QX4 needed an alternator (among other things), and the design is just… good gravy. The alternator is only held on by two bolts, but one of the bolts goes into a little l-shaped nut on the back, but it’s way up inside. So when putting it back together, I had to put the piece on the end of a magnet and hold it in place in just the right spot to catch the threads of the bolt that was coming through, but not to slide the L part of the piece into the wrong place (or cross thread it).

It probably took me an hour and a half just to get that part on. 😶

Good gravy.

Needless to say, I was not listening to motivational speeches at the time (at all during that 5-hourish job), which would have helped significantly. Instead, my inner sailor came paddling out and obliged a colored conversation with the air.

bleep. bleep.

Well, it’s 9:21. I’m gonna get up at 5 tomorrow but 4 on Monday, so I’m off to bed.

Still making progress. Was supposed to start the 10-day stoic challenge tomorrow, but i haven’t heard from Steven, so… not sure where that’s at.

Love and hugs to all y’all.

Lift the World.

  1. To us non-mechanics, your detailed descriptions of repairs are eye opening and instructive. You’re helping your readers avoid future problems by avoiding the hardest to repair cars! Thank you!
