2022-04-11 — Rebound

Hola, folks!

Happy end of Monday. πŸ™‚ Had a pretty good storm overnight, lots of rain, lots of thunder. Good stuff. Little Rock had a big tornado today, though, and Springdale is still trying to cleanup the damage from the tornado that went through there a week or two ago.

Over here on Haven Hill, though, we’ve been doing just fine, enjoying the rain and how green it’s making the grass/weed/whatever you want to call our “lawn.”

Had a good stock-trading morning. I was using the new strategy, and I made $1,000. πŸ₯³ It was nice to get at least a little bit of rebound after that huge loss last week. Another $700 ish, and I’ll be back to break even from when I started trading last month. So… not great, but it’s been an education so far. If I haven’t mentioned it already, this new approach is what I’ll need to do (or something similar) to reach the goals. I want to be in and out and done in a couple of hours or so. I don’t want to be holding stocks all day or for multiple days. So I have basically two requirements to this trading thing: #1. I have to get to the point where I’m trading max 2 hours a day to reach my income goals, and #2. I have to have the discipline to only trade within my strategy. If I can’t discipline myself, then I’ll just walk away and say, “well, it was worth a shot, but it’s not gonna work for me.”

(no sense losing money if I’m not yet disciplined enough to make intelligent choices and manage my emotions).

And the same if I can’t make the living via morning trading. If I have to spend all day to make the money, then that’s just a different job, and I might as well stay fixing cars, as that’s a great living and generally less emotionally intensive.

So… we’ll see how it goes. πŸ™‚

Let’s see, only did one car today, given the rain and lack of desire to push hard. Just a battery job in Fayetteville (long way to drive for a battery job, but whatever). I also cleaned up my text archives, sent out messages to previous customers asking about their level of satisfaction, etc. I stopped by my neighbor’s place to pick up some money he owed me for some work I did for him, and I tentatively worked out a trade where he’ll borrow one of my mini excavators, and in return, he’ll fix the paint and dents on my Z4. I still need to figure out from my accountant how that’ll work, but… yeah. There you go.

I found out that I likely will have a 5-digit bill from my federal and state governments for late tax filings.

Ouch.

I made my bed. I get to sleep in it.

Spent some time clearing the vines out of a section of the woods today, not a huge section, but the little bit that I did looks a lot better than it did, if you ask me.

Well, it’s 11:15. I spent all my trading money today, so I don’t get it back until Wednesday. I might have some available for tomorrow, and I applied for a margin account, which will allow me to not have to worry about waiting two days to get my money back, which was the main issue that led to the $3600 loss. I won’t use it to exponentially borrow more than I have, but I will use it to be able to use what I already have multiple times without having to wait for it to settle again. So… no going into debt to trade, just a restructuring of the money, so I can keep trading and not have the stress of trying to get the max possible gain on a position before I sell. I can simply sell and reuse the money right away.

Hopefully, that’ll help increase the number of winning trades.

Alright, time for bed. Thank you for your comments and love and care and concern and everything y’all send my way. I really appreciate it. Been rough years–many of them in a row–but we’re gonna pull through.

My programmers said they’ll be done with my transliteration tool this week, so it should be ready for me to pound on, testing it. That’ll be cool. πŸ™‚ I still have a lot of work to do to figure out the symbols themselves, but… we’ll get there. I’m whittling down the projects and restructuring my life, and though it’s going slowly, it is going in the right direction.

Love to all of you.

  1. Stephen! Pro tip from someone who has had to pay a 5 digit tax bill. Talk to your tax agency agent in person. Demonstrate your willingness, come to an agreement of a fully paid date, and they will usually freeze any further penalties that might accrue while you are repaying. Just showing willing can save you a lot of $.
