So yesterday I was super tired at 8 o’clock, starting to doze off, ready to crash. Then I chatted on the phone for a while, and then I have a second wind and didn’t end up going to bed until like…3. 🙃
Whoops.
Slept until about 11. Did… 4.25 cars today. One person (with a 2014 Ford Edge) thought she had a fuel leak, but it turned out to be that the had tried to put fuel injector cleaner in her gas tank, but she has one of those no-cap fuel fill ports which makes it challenging to add anything to the tank that doesn’t have a gas pump nozzle. Thus, thinking she was adding fuel injector cleaner, she was actually just letting it all leak out the overflow, down the rear wheel liner, and onto the ground. She thought it was fuel, but nope…
Second car was a 2007 Toyota Sienna with a partially shredded drive belt. Oil leak messed up the rubber on the belt, and it shredded. They also had a bunch of other issues, but I just put on the belt.
Third car was a 2008 Toyota Corolla that wouldn’t start (turned out to be just a battery). That was nice and easy.
Fourth car was… uh… 2008 Buick Lucerne with an oil leak that had been leaking on the starter for a while and finally burned it out.
Fifth car (the 1/4 car) was supposed to be a front pads and rotors job on a 2001 Ford Expedition. I recognized it as an SUV I put a fuel pump on way back in my early days as a mobile mechanic. I was all set going when a very unexpected storm rolled in (very localized, too). Since the forecast hadn’t showed anything, I didn’t expect anything, so when I felt a few drops and saw some clouds, I didn’t think much about it–especially since there was plenty of clear sky in view.
But then it rained a little harder.
I still thought, “oh, it’ll pass.” But nope. It came down harder and harder, and before long, I was soaking wet and scrambling to get all my tools back into my van. So… I’m like… a quarter of the way through the job and will be back at it… Monday or Tuesday or something like that.
That was pretty much the day. Didn’t get home until dark, and now it’s midnight, and I’m getting ready to crash.
G’night, folks.
