2023-05-31 — Finished!!!

Somehow, gratefully, I managed to wake up around 8:30 even though I had gone to bed at like 3:00 or 3:30 or something like that.

I started in hot and heavy working on all my tax information stuff. I had five months of receipts I needed to go through because I haven’t gone through any receipts since last year. 😬

So I went back through all my payment records for my business accounts, both businesses, from the beginning of the year until the end of May.

Lots and lots to go through, and somewhere around 1:00 or 2:00, I realized that I was probably going to have to give up and just be late and pay a fine for being late getting everything turned in.

But then… no… maybe… 🤞

Yes!!!

I managed to get everything done for both businesses because of the way I had already organized some things. I thought I was many hours away from being ready, but because of how I had things organized already, I was able to get done with all the tax stuff somewhere around 3:00, giving myself time to eat some late lunch, before heading down to the tax collector people to turn in my property tax assessments for my businesses.

Finished!!! 🥳

Don’t have to deal with property taxes again until next May 31st.

🥳

I only did two cars since it was something like 4:00 by the time I got out of the tax place. The first one was a 2015 Lexus GS 350 that needed a rear wheel bearing replaced.

He didn’t tell me that he already had stuff jacked up in torn apart.

Ugh.

And It didn’t dawn on me to check the billable hours for it because it’s just a wheel bearing.

But when I got to it… I did look it up, and it was a three and a half hour plus job.

😬

I wanted to back out of the job, but I didn’t feel good about it since he had been waiting for me for a couple days. So… I put my nose to the grindstone, and I dug in.

The first part, surprisingly, went quite well. I was able to get the wheel bearing out without much trouble at all. Much much faster than I expected and without having to take out anything that I thought I was going to have to take out. I again had found a way of doing it without having to remove everything that you typically have to remove.

But getting it back together… That… Turned out to be a nightmare. I think it took me like 35 minutes to get everything apart and like 3 hours to get everything back together.

Ugh.

But I got it done, and he’s all set, so that was good.

That job was in Bentonville, and my next one was way down in Fayetteville.

The next job was with the 2008 GMC Acadia that supposedly just needed a battery. The battery on those is inside the car little battery tray under the carpet. I pulled off all of the floor mats and carpet and covers and everything, and when I took a peek inside the battery tray compartment area thingy, it was full of water.

Lovely.

I guess they have a leak in their sunroof somewhere, and periodically it leaks into the car. What they didn’t know, was that it was steadily filling up their battery compartment.

So I got out my shop vac, vacuumed out all the water, after I removed the battery of course, spent the next 30 or 45 minutes charging up the battery because it was only like a year old or something, but it wouldn’t take a charge, so I put in a new battery, and when I went to fasten the cables back down, the fasteners had been wet so long that they had corroded, and the fasteners on both cable ends broke, so I had to get my bolt cutters, cut off the cable ends, and put on brand new cable ends.

What was supposed to be just a quick battery job turned into a much much longer ordeal. I think I finally got done somewhere around 9:30 or 10:00? It was dark by the time I finished, whatever time it was. Might have actually been 10:30. Don’t remember.

Anyway, though I had had two cars go quite a good bit sideways, I was more upbeat than anything because of having gotten my taxes done today, so that was nice.

Love and hugs. 😊
