2023-10-21 — Driving, Driving, Driving

It was a little bit more of a rough night last night, sleep wise. I had a pretty good headache/migraine, and my nerves hated me, and I’m sick, so… it was fun. 🙃

There was a little yappy dog that periodically decided it wanted to make its presence known at various points through the night.

Gratefully, my nerves calmed enough to have the main issues just be the bad headache and the sickness.

🥳

Still, upon waking up, I spent a couple hours or so stretching on the grass while my mom hung out with her friend. I also caught up on my journal entries.

Once my mom finished lunch with her friend, we pointed the nose of the van south, and headed on our way.

There wasn’t… really anything of note the rest of the way in Nebraska. The only thing really to relate is that I’m an effort to help my mom get a rock for a friend of hers from each state we’ve traveled through, I spent almost 20 minutes digging around a creekbed on the side of the highway.

Why would it take 20 minutes?

Because apparently, Nebraska doesn’t have rocks. 🙃 They have lots of dirt and lots of sand but rocks? Not easy to come by. So I took off my shoes and waded through the creek, through the mud, trying to find a rock that wasn’t just a leftover from building up the banks to be able to put a bridge over the creek.

Eventually, I found a few rocks that seemed like they might actually me native Nebraskan and not just bank leftovers.

Other than that, the rest of Nebraska was… nothing to write about today.

The little corner of Iowa we went through was the same. And we’ve since gone through Missouri as well, and we’re currently in Kansas. The plan is to hopefully crash at a truck stop just south of Pittsburg, Kansas. We’ll go to church there in the morning, and then it’ll be a relatively decent drive home tomorrow after church–just an hour and 45 minutes, or so, I think.

🤞

I haven’t looked for sure.

The only other notable occurrence on the drive so far came early evening, when, in the midst of significant pain and discomfort with my back/leg issues, i grabbed my jug of water, tilted my head back, and took a drink.

And immediately, not minutes later, not seconds later, immediately, I felt significant pain relief.

😶

Of course I’m super happy about that, but I’m also completely confused. I’ve been trying to find out how something like that could even be possible. My mom says she thinks it likely has to do with the way my spine moved when i bent my head back to drink.

🤷

Got me, but I’ll take it! I’m gonna keep trying to figure it out as well because here I am, i think at least a few hours later? And I’m uncomfortable, but it’s mostly just my normal pudendal neuralgia issues that I’ve had for decades, and very mild back pain/discomfort.

😶

Craziness. Anyway, truck stop is in about 20 minutes. Cross your fingers that they will let us crash there.

🤞

Lift the world.
