2024-11-01 (Friday) — Return to Haven Hill

You know it’s funny, I was actually cold last night.

It must be the humidity, because I don’t think it got any colder than like 45° overnight. We were doing just fine at 28° in Canada, but I checked the humidity, and it was 93%, so I think that answers that. 😅

I don’t think I’ve lived in my car during the winter in a humid state before. I’ve been totally fine in the winter in dry States…

I guess we’ll see.

Anyway, since I was already at mom’s, we ate breakfast together, which was nice.

We continued our morning cold cereal, eating leftover Cold cereal from the trip. My mom’s landlady came by and brought some eggs, and I spent some time answering questions from JustAnswer.

My mom, unfortunately, had kind of a rough night’s sleep. After doing wonderfully sleeping in Rover every night for almost 2 months, she was super sore waking up in her bed at home.

Need to find her a bed like the one in Rover. I just give her that one, but it’s a little too short for in-house use. It really would be better if it still had the other 9 in on it that I cut off. It’s great for being here in the van, but not so great in the house.

Anyway, I headed back to Haven Hill shortly after we finished breakfast, and I spent maybe an hour chatting with mike, and then maybe 20 minutes chatting with Liz.

Things really haven’t changed much at all in the last 2 months since we left. Everything is pretty much exactly how I left it.

I stopped over to chat with jim, as I saw that he had come home while I was talking to mike, but nobody answered the door. I got in touch with him a little bit later, and I guess we’ll catch up tomorrow.

So I headed down to the creek area where I lived for a couple two and a half months. All my stuff is still there, so I guess that’s a good thing. 🙃

Now it’s time to get rid of it all. 😅

It’s hard to sell. It represents so much time and energy. But… is what it is.

Being back at the creek, I sort of just slipped right back into what I was doing before I left, putting sticks in the burn barrel. 😆

I went through all the mail that came while I was gone, and burned that in the burn barrel, and then I just started going around picking up branches that had fallen since I last was here, and breaking them up and dumping them in the burn barrel.

I was pleasantly surprised with the fact that both my federal and state returns had come while I was gone, as well as five checks from my car insurance company because I had paid 6 months in advance on several different vehicles but had suspended coverage temporarily while I was gone, so I got reimbursement checks. So I spent some time depositing seven checks into my business and personal accounts, so that was nice.

I spent some more time working on just answer questions, and my mom invited me over for dinner, so I headed over for dinner, was grateful to take a shower because I was little concerned that I had poison ivied  myself doing all the wandering around the woods gathering sticks that I was doing.

I’m definitely a lot more itchy in Arkansas. 😅

Didn’t quite reach my JustAnswer goal, coming one question short. That said, I might have reached it anyway, as I think I might have forgotten to count a couple questions that I started, but I don’t count them if I forgot about them. I don’t try and go back to figure it out. I just go answer more questions.

I’m actually pretty happy with how I did working on the trip. My first work day of September was the 17th, so we’d already been on the trip for 10 days ish before I even worked a little bit, and then I don’t think I worked pretty much at all or almost not at all while in Canada, so I am actually really happy with the money that I was able to make while on vacation. It’s got me feeling pretty good about how things are going with JustAnswer overall as I begin my nonprofit stuff.

Anyway, had dinner at my mom’s house with her and Thomas. She made spaghetti, it was super tasty. 😋

I spent some time making my bed actually lie flat, so I no longer have tires in my back and low spots and whatnot.

🥳

I still have a lot left to do, but at least it’s a flat bed. That, hopefully, will be a game changer. 🤞

Talk to my dad for a good long time. He’s starting another business, and it’s one that I’m very familiar with, having spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours working on a similar one myself years ago before deciding to give it up because I felt like it wasn’t the best path for me going forward.

Did a little bit more just answer after talking to my dad, and spent some more time working on organizing my van a little bit.

And that’s where I am right now. 🙂

I’m lying down on a flat bed for the first time in nearly 2 months. 🥳

Love and hugs!

Lift the world.

  1. Stephen! Yes! Dry cold is so much warmer than wet cold! It doesn’t take nearly so much energy/clothing to stay warm! Hope the flat mattress helps and I’m so glad that JustAnswer is doing well for you. I love you, Stephen!
