(written on the August 17th from notes taken previously)
Can you believe it?!?! I actually started the day with a gospel morning! π
It was great. π
Ate breakfast with Mom and then began the process of packing up house stuff, loading it into Albert, and taking it over to the storage unit.
For whatever reason (I think local construction might have damaged a power line or something), my mom’s friend Rosanne’s power had shut off, and she couldn’t get her car out of her garage, so I headed over and manually released her garage door for her.
There was just one problem:
After I got the door open, and she got her vehicle out of the garage, I wasn’t able to relatch the manual release handle. π
Unless I’m completely off my rocker, whenever I’ve manually released a garage door from its track, as soon as the door is put all the way back down, it automatically reconnects to the little runner on the track.
Well, it wasn’t clicking in. It was like it had been installed out of alignment?
The functionality was possible, but I just couldn’t get the handle to go all the way back to where it could click into the door guide thingy.
She sat out in the driveway waiting for me to get it figured out, but she had an appointment she needed to get to, so I ended up having her head on out, thinking I’d get it figured out.
I wouldn’t. π
I pushed as hard as I dared, but I didn’t want to break anything, so eventually, frustrated, I gave up. I then turned my attention to figuring out how on earth we could get out of the house without having a key to lock the door behind us.
I came up with multiple options, but none of them actually worked, so my mom ended up having to drive over to where Rosanne was and get the key, so we could lock the door behind us.
Originally, we were just going to be giving her a ride to her appointment and back, but that seemed unnecessary to me, because we could just unlatch the garage door, let her get out, and then close it.
Until we couldn’t.
No good deed… π
Oh well.
Back at the house, we spent a little more time packing, and then my mom headed out for some stuff that she needed to do, and I stayed and worked on installing Happy’s new water valve.
Which didn’t go very well.
And which I didn’t handle very well.

π
After flushing the heater core, the only crap coming out being the little bits of rubber from the busted water valve diaphragm, and finally getting it back together with the new water valve on, I took it for a test drive. Yay, that it was finally able to get back to cooler air after turning it to heat, but… not yay that it still never got properly hot, nor did it ever get properly cold. π
Ugh.
When Mom got back, we did some more moving stuff, making another run to the storage unit with stuff we’d loaded into Albert.
Little bits of progress today on the moving front. Not a lot, but a little. π
I wasn’t very productive the rest of the day, pretty much spending the rest of the day on my phone.
I mean, I’m trying to be productive a lot of the time, but not finding anything useful (places to live, things I need to buy, etc.).
And of course, I’m also wasting plenty of time on YouTube and whatnot as well. π
Another day, another late night trip to Neighborhood market.
Another day ended.
Oh, I did go out and look at one house for sale, but whoever built the darn thing built it so that the house is sitting level with the ground. There’s not even a step up into the house. πΆ
Um… can we say water intrusion? π
That’s probably why it’s so cheap. π
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
