2026-06-02 (Tuesday) — Temple Joy

(written on June 4th from notes taken previously)

I was up and going at a decent time, grateful that the sun didn’t heat up my van too much before I left my little perch on the side of the parking area. 🙏

Drove pretty much straight to the temple, changed my clothes in Rover, headed in, and saw that the worker at the front desk was the lady who worked the baptismal area almost all summer last year. 😊

Was nice that she recognized me. 😊

I was early, so I just sat and pondered a bit in the locker room before participating in the initiatory session.

After the initiatory, I headed on in to participate in an endowment session. I don’t remember if I mentioned last week, but the same older lady from last week who just has an absolutely infectious, broad smile and never stops smiling was there again. 😊

So cool to see that huge smile constantly shining. 😊

After the temple, I chatted a bit with my sister Heather we’re heading into Walmart.

After the temple, I was just beaming. Big ol’ smile, just like that lady’s, and so… happy. 😊 I might have looked a little odd wandering up and down Walmart with a big smile on my face. 🙃

But I’m so grateful. 🙏

I might well actually be on the road to a golden-years sequel. Oh, how incredible that would be. 🤞

Glory to God. So grateful. 🙏

Stopped off to fill up for gas after going to Walmart. Oh! And that’s another thing to be grateful for, that my tank lasted long enough to not have to get gas at the more expensive stations between home and Casper. 🙏

When I figured my gas mileage for this tank, I was quite surprised to find that it was nearly 17 and 1/2!

And then as I drove away, I realized that the pump had cut off early. 😆

Oh well.

Since my clothes were dry, I decided to see if maybe there was a park nearby with a swimming hole, so I could jump in and enjoy the evaporative cooling on the drive home.

Google found on the Platte River just outside of town, so I pointed Rover in that direction and headed on over.

Unfortunately, when I got there, it turned out to be a fee area. 🙃

I was just wanting a quick dip in the river and to be on my way, so I wasn’t really up for paying a fee. Instead, I just headed back to the highway and then East toward home.

As I was driving along, I decided that since the speed limit was 80 mph, and I was going to drive my super duper slow speed, that I had better put my flashers on.  So I did, and I think that’s going to be a regular occurrence for me for the foreseeable. 😆

Save gas. Save money.  Reduce pollution.

As I drove, I mostly listened to talks and the scriptures, and that was wonderful. It’s so nice to be getting back to the things that fill my soul.

I talked to Mom for a little bit as I drove as well, we making plans for our Great Eastern Road Trip.

It’s gonna be so great. 😊

Somewhere in eastern Wyoming, the hail started banging against the van a bit. Gratefully, I don’t think there was anything big. I don’t even think any of the little bits were even pea-sized. If they were, they were soft enough to just smash into slush on the windshield.

They did make a fair bit of noise, though. 🙃

Despite the thunderstorm, I stopped off at JH Keith Park, though I did wait for the lightning to make its way North before I ventured into the water. ⛈️

Chatted with Hans a little bit, mucked out the barn, chatted with Cory a bit, and started working on my fairy light install, putting up the little command hook dealies on the inside of the fiberglass shell.

So much easier with thumbtacks and a headliner. 😆

Enjoyed a lovely hour-and-a-half conversation with my sister Rebecca, talking about all sorts of important and meaningful things. 🥰

And slowly, very slowly getting the command strip dealies up.

Honestly, it sort of boggles my mind that the little plastic hooks have holes in the middle, so the command strip tape only adheres to maybe 70% of the surface area that it could.

😶

I guess they figure that it’s strong enough that they don’t need the extra strength and would rather save the plastic?

🤔

🤷

I veged out for a little bit after that and called it a night somewhere after 11:11. Why do I mention that? I seem to be catching 11:11 on the clock pretty much every day, I think. 🙃

Oh! Tick! I forgot to mention that while I was at the temple, I noticed a tick crawling up my screen door. A biggun. 😶

It will not reproduce. 😅

Lift the world.

Bring it on.
