(written on August 23rd from notes taken previously)
I don’t really remember the morning, so… π . I was at my mom’s place all morning, and all I really remember was that Thomas and I were going to do lunch, but that we ended up leaving a lot later than expected.
I’m sure I kept myself busy with something. π
Once Thomas got back from being out doing all the things he had on his list for the day to that point, we hopped in Rover, stopped by the recycling place really quickly, and then headed over to Sam’s Club for the el cheapo meal deal. π
Thomas and I had a great conversation, talking mostly about all the challenges and changes he’s facing right now. The newest, front and center among a mountain of other stuff, is that he just got back from a trip to Texas to find that the house he was living in is for sale, a buyer has likely been found, and now he has to move–again. π
Moving bites.
And it looks like rental prices are such these days that it’s likely going to cost double current rent to move to another house.
Brutal. π
Shout out to him, though, he was able to shrug off the enormous weight of everything enough to be able to laugh and joke and whatnot. πͺ
After lunch, we headed over to the Samaritan Shop to drop some stuff off, and I had a brief conversation with the two intake workers receiving my donations, both of whom happened to be autistic. π
Another shout out to Thomas… in the midst of the super-heavy load, he decided it was going to be best to go ahead and add one more thing to the to-do list today, stopping by his storage unit to get a sense of where things are at in preparation for the move. So after stopping by the house again to get his keys, we headed to the storage unit.
Doing so turned out to be a good choice because, unfortunately, though he’s been paying for climate control, apparently the climate control has been out for apparently six months, at minimum, and some of his belongings have started to mold because of it.
I was… not happy. π
After the previous ownership was bought out, they got rid of the on-site help, took down the sign that named the place, and even removed any information through which you could get in touch with customer service.
Google reviews have reflected the drop in quality and service, but this is a whole different level.
Treating people poorly is a super-quick way to get my blood hot. π
Thomas took it amazingly well, pretty much in stride– definitely a lot better than I did. π
As we drove home, we chatted with my mom to try and get some logistics figured out for what to do about the storage-unit issue (she had the contact information for the place). It was past customer-service hours, so nothing to do about it today.
Back on the homefront, the three of us spent a little while chatting, talking about all the craziness going on, and then I headed off to the Neighborhood Market to… not buy junk food. π
Trying to get back to healthy again. π€
Struggling emotionally/spiritually usually corresponds to crappy diet for me (all those self-medicating escapes π¬).
But… no junk food bought tonight. Good luck to moi. π€
Lift the world.
Bring it on.
